Financing Energy Efficiency in Buildings, Heating & Cooling

Objective of this public workshop is to:

• Discuss how the available EU programmes and instruments can help cities and regions launch large-scale investments in energy efficiency of buildings and in the heating and cooling sector.
• Show how EU financial instruments can be used to support energy efficiency in existing buildings through project development assistance and to finance the investments borne by Energy Performance Contracting providers (‘ESCOs’) through loans and guarantees in combination with grants.
• Illustrate how the ESI funds have been used to create financial instruments to support the deployment of sustainable heating and cooling infrastructure projects.
• Present some project development assistance (PDA) projects which include the use private money to fund energy efficiency investments such as energy performance contracting and the retrofitting of existing district heating networks. This workshop is connected to the 'Smart Financing for Smart Buildings' initiative and to the Heating and Cooling Strategy of the Energy Union package.
