The potential for energy efficiency retrofits is high in Italy and local authorities have a crucial role to play. However, financing these retrofit projects is often a hurdle which seems difficult to overcome. Even though a number of promising examples using innovative financing mechanisms exist in Italy and elsewhere in Europe, they have not been applied on a large scale throughout the country.
Therefore, building capacities and knowledge of municipalities on innovative financing models play a crucial role in triggering large scale renovations.The workshop aims at raising awareness and deepening knowledge of existing innovative financing instruments and inspiring case studies from other European countries, exploring Italian best practices and discussing concretely how these innovative financing instruments could be applied in the participating local authorities. It will Identify recurrent barriers for innovative financing instruments in energy efficiency retrofitting and finding ways to overcome them, and encourage partnership-building between different stakeholders and levels of government. The event is mainly addressed at Italian local authorities, financial institutions, investors, ESCOs, energy agencies and policy makers from the local and regional level as well as relevant institutions.

Il potenziale di ristrutturazioni di efficienza energetica in Italia è alto e le autorità locali hanno un ruolo cruciale da svolgere. Tuttavia, il finanziamento di questi progetti di retrofit è spesso un ostacolo che sembra difficile da superare. Anche se un certo numero di esempi promettenti che utilizzano meccanismi di finanziamento innovativi esistono in Italia e nel resto d'Europa, comunque non sono state applicate su larga scala nel paese. Pertanto, il capacity building negli enti pubblici locali e territoriali sui modelli di finanziamento innovativi gioca un ruolo cruciale nell'innescare lavori di ristrutturazione su larga scala.
Il 25 maggio Climate Alliance insieme a Renovate Italy, Fondazione Cariplo e Kyoto Club nell’ambito del progetto CITYnvest organizzerà un workshop che in modo operativo e pratico indentificherà le barriere ricorrenti per attuare strategie innovative finanziarie per l’efficientamento energetico e possibili modi per superarli. L'evento è rivolto principalmente a autorità italiane locali, istituzioni finanziarie, investitori, ESCO, agenzie per l'energia ed esperti del settore.
