Increased investments, less CO2 emissions and future possible partnerships with additional fundings are the key results of the three pilot regions of CITYnvest.
Murcia Region has developed a business plan for the energy efficiency renovation of some 400 public buildings with 2. 1.8 M€ investments triggered. 3. 16.906.283 KWh are the expected energy savings.
Liège Region has seen the implementation of 5 Energy Performance Contracts of nearly 60 M€ investments, reaching 134 buildings to be renovated and achieving less energy consumption of 34%. The Up-scaling of the One Stop Shop RenoWatt to RenoWatt+ should increase the investment to a volume of 120 M€, involving over 45 municipalities in Liège and other provinces in Wallonia.
Rhodope Region has set up a one Stop shop involving 6 municipalities, the Association of Rhodope municipality and Sofia Energy Centre. There are currently 2 projects pipelines with total investments expected: 11,5 M€ for 42 public buildings renovation + 1,7 M€ for street lighting improvements in 46 settlements. Here, the expected energy savings are 8,8 GWh/year.
The results of the three CITYnvest pilots regions have been integrated in the Friends Of Europe publication: Cities - the new policy shapers in the energy transition, launched last Friday during the COP23 in Bonn. In particular, the article is included in the 3rd section on Green solutions, boosting cities' economic growth. The publication also refers to key documents produced in CITYnvest to support local government in choosing the best financial model for their context.
